Video interviews with members of ‘The Global Studio’ now on YouTube
Hello from SyrupSyrup, it has been a long time between posts on my site as there has been alot of work going on at the university this autumn, much more than what we are used to but there certainly is a rise now in the importance of quality e-learning delivery for our academics and business partners going into 2011.
One of the major projects I am involved in is being a technical advisor for the Global Studio at Northumbria. The Global Studio is a web based platform for use by our students and students based internationally to exchange ideas and to upload/download work to collaborate to share amongst peers and also industrty clients, which this year have included Motorola and Intel.
WordPress is at the heart of our master site and using our collaboration server hosted at the University we have set up a space and various web based tools for students to work on and creative innovative projects collaboratively.
Joanne Cone, 3rd Year Design For Industry
Nick Oakley, Future Concept Design Strategist, Intel
Over the summer my colleague Ben assisted with the filming of 6 of our student users and 6 university and industry champions giving their account on how the Studio has progressed. I was then requested to edit the videos to be shared on YouTube once they were complete. The video series can be seen on the Global Studio Channel set up by Erik Bohemia at http://www.youtube.com/user/erikbohemia.
One of the stand out students from this year in my opinion was Joanne Cone, who managed to recieve an offer for an internship after impressing Motorola during her project. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUU7SliyRGg
